LAMPP Project
Hartford, CT
The Connecticut Citizen
Research Group in contract with Connecticut Children’s
Medical Center’s Lead Action for Medicaid Primary Prevention
(LAMPP) was designated by the Department of Social Services
to carry out two federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
grants to control lead-based paint hazards in eligible
residential housing units.
A portion of the funds were allocated for encouragement of
workforce development, economic development, and job
creation in the state. As a result, EnviroScience was
awarded a contract to provide a US EPA/CT DPH certified Lead
Abatement Worker Training Course for very low-income
individuals interested in pursuing a career in the field.
EnviroScience was also responsible to actively work to help
successful trainees obtain employment through suggestions
and referrals of available jobs.
