SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT – NEWINGTON, CT OFFICE

POSITION DEFINITION: Performs routine, moderately advanced and advanced technical duties under general supervision. Serves as a project manager for individual projects, as assigned. Responsible for carrying out project schedule and preparing final report. Serves as spokesperson for the company on individual projects when required.

GENERAL DUTIES: Receives direction from a technical manager or an officer. Carries out assignments according to established technical procedures and researches new approaches when established procedures are inappropriate or absent in a given set of circumstances. Serves as project manager, including training and guiding Environmental Technicians and Consultants on various tasks comprising a project. Outlines and develops reports of considerable complexity. Serves as a project designer for environmental hazard remediation projects. Supervises and prepares preliminary and final plans, cost estimates, specifications and contracts for environmental remediation projects, (groundwater, soil, and underground storage tanks). Coordinates plans and specifications to ensure conformance with appropriate local, state and federal codes, laws and ordinances for the company's projects. Serves as an instructor in training courses offered by the Company to its clients. Performs Phase I, II & III Environmental Site Assessments.

QUALIFICATION PROFILE: The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with a bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, chemistry, biology, physics, engineering, architecture, environmental earth science, geology or some closely related field, and four to seven years of increasingly responsible experience in the environmental field. A master's degree might be substituted for two years of experience. State licensing (P.E. or LEP) preferred, but not required.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT-CONNECTICUT & BOSTON OFFICES

POSITION DEFINITION: Performs routine and moderately advanced technical duties under general supervision in asbestos and lead paint consulting. Serves as project monitor/inspector for individual projects as assigned. Responsible for carrying out project schedule and preparing final report. Serves as spokesperson for the Company on individual projects when required.

GENERAL DUTIES: Receives direction from manager. Carries out assignments according to established technical procedures and researches new approaches when established procedures are inappropriate or absent in a given set of circumstances. Prepares and develops reports. Serves as project resource for environmental hazard remediation and hazardous material projects. Coordinates work plans and asbestos inspection to ensure conformance with appropriate local, state and federal codes, laws and ordinances for the Company’s projects. Inspects buildings for asbestos, lead-based paint and other hazardous materials. Assists in preparation and monitors operations and maintenance plans for lead and asbestos buildings. Operates air sampling equipment and phase contrast microscope in accordance with established protocols. Will perform indoor air quality/mold sampling and inspection.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Participates in professional organizations to remain current in the field.

REQUIREMENTS: The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with a bachelor’s or two-year degree in industrial hygiene, chemistry, biology, physics, engineering, architecture, environmental earth science, geology or some closely related field, and one to three years of increasingly responsible experience in the environmental field. Licenses in Connecticut for Asbestos Inspector, Asbestos Project Monitor, Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor for the CT office or licenses in Massachusetts for Asbestos Inspector and Project Monitor for the MA office.
